Survey Indicates Board Oversight of People Policy Slowly Shifting from Risk Management to Value Creation

As talent becomes a key driver of corporate success, boardrooms are rethinking their approach to People policy. No longer confined to issues of compliance and risk, human capital strategy is increasingly seen as a source of long-term value creation.

In this evolving landscape, boards are being called upon to take a more proactive and strategic role in shaping workplace culture, compensation, and talent management. A recent survey of French board directors—commissioned by Alexander Hughes and conducted by EDHEC Junior Études—sheds light on how this transition is unfolding, revealing both progress and persistent gaps in oversight.
